Structure of the SchoolClasses are divided into kayaks, canoes and stand up paddle boards (SUP). Classes are small and generally have 4-6 participants and 2 instructors. Classes start with a dry land meeting Friday evening immediately after the 7:00 PM group meeting, then strenuous river days on both Saturday and Sunday. The clinic will cover basic paddling strokes, maneuvers (ferries, eddy turns, peel outs), water reading, safety and rescue, and equipment outfitting. Boat control and safe, fun negotiation of rivers will be stressed. Students will be grouped according to ability and what they seek to learn. All classes are led by American Canoe Association-certified instructors. |
